A Writing Pledge
With pen and paper in hand, I solemnly swear to lift my spirit into the realm of telling stories. Here I walk with an open and receptive heart to hear and listen to all the voices of untold songs. With pen and paper, I take the creatives' oath to come back once again to write the story I am here to tell
Midpoint NaNoWriMo
For Nanowrimo I have been working with the beats from Save the Cat. If I were to write in chronological order I would be at the midpoint of the story by now but I write in a more helter-skelter way. However, this is the midpoint for my NaNoWriMo journey. It is safe to say that 5000 words are not a victory so I have decided to call it out as a false defeat instead of a drop-dead failure. My final image will be that I reached 50000 words at the end of November
Free printable for setting and world-building
Creative writing | I was inspired to make a story bible for my novel and decided to give it a try for this week’s theme for Nano prep namely world-building. First, I wrote down a paragraph about the ten most important places in my story. For doing this I made a printable.
NaNo Prep Week 3 Outline + dot grid flashcards
First, I wrote out the main points from the Save the Cat book on a dot grid printable. Then I printed out some more and cut it out into flashcards. Now all I have to do is to fill out the flashcards with the scenes suitable for each beat. In that way, I have the freedom to move them around, toss them or add to the scene list. And I can use them for writing ideas down that turned up while free writing and brainstorming scenes.
Travel Journal| Florence + Writing Prompts
Both times I visited Florence I saw the cathedral/Duomo, the bridge Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Boboli Gardens. I can scale this down and visit a local church building, walk over a small bridge, look up a local gallery, and stroll around in my garden or a nearby park or forest. For three days I give myself permission to see everything with new eyes and indulge in the same activities I would if on a vacation
Fall | Capsule Wardrobe + free printables
I have a habit of letting my mornings run into my working hours. Though I will sit at the desk it would still be in my night pajamas and with unruly hair. Sometimes it helps me stay in the flow but most often it keeps my brain a little foggy despite the amount of morning coffee. That is why I have decided for this fall to dress up to mark the beginning of my writing working hours. And to help myself do that I am assembling a capsule wardrobe.
Back to School - week schedule
I love the beginning of a new school year even though I left school many years ago. But I still stock up on new school supplies and this fall I have been enjoying making up my own schedule for writing. I share a filled-out schedule and a blank one as free printables in the latest blog post.
