Wheel's on the bus
Wheels on the Bus Adapted Book | Song
Designed for young children ages 3-5 with autism and/or intellectual delays, Wheels on the Bus is a eight page book (nine with cover) that comes in a printable .pdf file. This book would be fun to use during back to school if you have students riding the bus for the first time or during a transportation unit.
The First Week of School - "the wheels on the bus" craft and letter song. I didn't search out the lyrics, but it could go like this: The letters on the bus go up and down, up and down, up and down. The letters on the bus go up and down, A is for Addison. And continue on with each student.... B is for Brandon, Cis for Charlie, etc.)
The Stuff We Do
This took more than a day to complete. We started on this a week ago, and finally got them all finished and laminated to go home on Thursday! We placed our director of our program as the bus driver, Melissa and I are passengers on the bus along with each child. This turned out AWESOME. The children painted the buses with yellow sparkly finger paint, and they blotted the wheels with a dabber. We wrote in the necessary extra words to accommodate our needs, with the year as the bus number!
Mrs. Wood's Kindergarten Class
I started this lesson by singing The Wheels on the Bus song. Then we read The Wheels on the School Bus. Then, the children had a great time making up our own Wheels on the bus song using the sound of the first letter of our name. Finally, we constructed our own school bus and created our rhymes to go with the first letter of our names.
