Viking tunic showing gores. The complexity results in a garment that doesn't bind or restrict movement. The upper part of the garment is relatively tight-fitting, but the sleeves are fitted to provide freedom of motion. The skirt ranged from thigh length to knee length. As with most articles of clothing, the length was determined by the wealth of the owner. On hot days, the skirt was lifted up and tucked into the belt. Sleeves were probably reaching well past the wrists.
