Graham's Fabric Fabulous Nursery — Nursery Tour

Same idea for the family room. IKEA Expedit window seat via Apartment Therapy

IKEA's KURA bed is a budget staple in children's rooms, but most parents configure it in a lofted position to free up more floor space. I've often wondered why anyone wouldn't do that? One reason is if your child is too young, you can start them in this and then flip it into a loft. An even better answer, perhaps, is that the frame of the Kura lends itself so easily to creative interpretation and decorating. Here are examples of ways parents have gussied up their Kuras:

8 Creative Ways to Decorate & Customize the Kura Low Bed

for against dormer wall >>> "the window bench is designed using a tall lack shelf from ikea and two leg kits. we just flipped the shelf on it's side ... the cushion [is] made by cutting a camping mattress foam in half and sewed a custom cover. the mattress foam is much more economical than purchasing upholstery foam etc."

It's a IKEA LACK shelf turned sideways with 2 CAPITA leg kits to make an adorable window seat. So nice for a nursery or reading nook. The custom cushion is the only tricky part of this Ikea hack

A Rail of Buckets

IKEA Grundtal kitchen bucket organizers and rail in the office for pens, scissors, stapler, etc. Would also be nice for an art room for kids

Shelves facing toward each other instead of towards the room and moulding to conceal curtain rod

Love this idea for 'built-in' storage. use ikea shelves and molding to make faux built-ins for toy storage. hang curtains in front. This actually makes me wonder if walls in lala'sroom adjacent to window box could be made into built ins.
