orange blossom honey - the flavor is sweet, with unique citrus hints. Cooking with Raw Honey For sauces, marinades and salad dressings: substitute pure honey for up to half the granulated sweetener in a recipe. Tip: Honey will often taste sweeter than sugar, and you may find it too sweet for a one-to-one substitute in some recipes. Reduce the amount of honey by using 1/2 to 3/4 as much honey as the sugar called for in the recipe

Homemade Maraschino Cherries Here’s how to make (an adult version of) maraschino cherries: Wash and pit 2 cups of cherries (I like to leave the stems on). In a jar or bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of sugar with 2 cups of maraschino liqueur (Luxardo). Stir in 2 teaspoons lemon juice and 1 teaspoon almond extract. Add the cherries and soak overnight. Great for cocktails, fruit salads and topping ice cream sundaes.

The crystals tend to be large and have an off-white color. Sugar in the Raw is this type of sugar and you may have seen it at coffee shops, even if you haven’t noticed the name “turbinado” before. It works in place of plain sugar in just about all recipes.

Homemade Vanilla Extra Fill your bottle or mason jar with vodka. Add your spent vanilla beans (after they’ve been scraped, rinse them off) – you’ll need at least three – put the top on and put it away for about three to four weeks. When your extract is a pretty brown color and smells like vanilla, it’s ready. +tuck a few spent vanilla beans into a canister of sugar for a lovely flavored addition into coffee, espressos and such
