Arapawa sheep. Likely originating from escapees of mainly Merino in 1867, or earlier. Super-fine fleece, as fine as merino (11+ microns) and is high bulk, good for textile manufacturers; Makes waterproof felts for head and footwear. Naturally more resistant to fly-strike. Fine crimp. Wool shows a tendency towards self shedding, particularly in belly area. Produce an array of natural colours and hues, from a pale cream through silvery grey, russet and dark chocolate brown to almost black.
