Traditions revolve around 4 main sects, all value a concept or God more than others. Shaiva, Vaishnava, Shakta are all deity worship but the Smarta believe in the ultimate form, abstract, and all encompassing Brahman. Brahman is the universe which cannot be exactly defined. Although most Hindus believe in many gods some believe all the deities make up one god. The sacred texts include the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Epics which all cover a practice and concept of how to live your life.
