Linen sweet bag with silk embroidery, English, 1600–30  © CSG CIC This small bag is made of linen embroidered with multicoloured silk and silver threads with a sunflower, pink, borage, cornflower and rose. The flowers are worked in silk threads in detached buttonhole stitch with the curling stems in silver-gilt thread braid stitch against a background in silver threads embroidered in Gobelin stitch.
