This ad sells not just the product, but the memories and experience of using the product.  If I was a parent, it would definitely make me want to buy it for my children for Christmas.  It uses emotional appeal.  I think the ad is geared towards parents, both moms and dads.  It definitely promotes brand awareness.  It shows the Lego brand as brand that brings families together.  It also shows how children can be creative with the product and use their imaginations.
