RED AURORAS: On October a CME hit Earth's magnetic field, sparking a geomagnetic storm. Sky watchers on both ends of the Earth saw auroras; many of the lights were rare shades of red. Minoru Yoneto photographed this example from Queenstown, New Zealand.
