Tyumen Regional Museum, built in 1879, is one of the oldest museums in Siberia. Its founders was an outstanding scholar, teacher and local historian, a member of the Russian Geographical Society, Ivan Yakovlevich Slovtsov. The basis of the museum's collection were the two private collection of Siberian Antiquities.
