Helle Allpass Schollert Denmark Retro Pottery Dish Bowl Danish Modern Design Stoneware

Helle Allpass Schollert Denmark Stoneware dish/bowl - probably from the 1970s A…

Retro pottery shaving bowl made by Michael Andersen, Bornholm, Denmark in the 1960s or 1970s, but with a clear reference to antique Greece. The bowl has a mottled egg color and has been made a bit muddy and turbid on purpose to resemble old tarnished pottery. It has a blue decoration of a woman and a blue edge trimming, that deliberately has been made a little uneven - again to resemble patina. The bowl is not completely circular; it looks like some one has taken a bite ;-) Actually this is…

One has to be amazed. The vision of the design and the craftmanship behind the work of Carl-Harry Stålhane is simply outstanding. Just watch how the mottled brown glazing of this vase match the teak cabinet behind it - this was in no way a coincidence. Stålhane was a perfectionist to his fingertips and wanted his stoneware to compliment the furniture of that time - but he was also a proud and ambitious man, who wanted his designs to have the same kind of popularity and acclaim as the…

This is, in my opinion, Danish pottery at its best:-) Beautiful slipware blue glaze stoneware bowl in traditional Kähler style - but actually made about 20 years ago by ceramicist Anette Christiansen. Her glazing technique is fabulous and the shimmery blue slipware on this rough piece of stoneware just takes my breath away. I hope that someone will enjoy it as much as I have during the years. Anette is a wonderful potter; trained at Lillerød Lervarefabrik (1893-1995) in the late 1970´s…

SØHOLM Denmark Stoneware Svend Aage Jensen teapot with a raffia wrapped handle from the 1960s. This wonderful piece of Mid Century Danish pottery is decorated with sgraffito technique before burning which gives it a lovely rough surface. My mother has always taught me, that the most wonderful thing about pottery is not what you can see, but what you can feel: Try closing your eyes, she would say and let your fingers wander all across the surface. A good feeling in your fingers is what…

White Elephant stoneware figurine made by Svend Lindhart Svend Lindhart is a Danish icon, who worked at Bing & Grøndahl for, what surely qualifies as, a lifetime - from 1928 and until well past his 80th birthday in 1978 (he was still on the list of employees in 1980).
