South Devon, my favourite place in the world !
Haytor: "Four miles west of Bovey Tracey, Haytor is the best-known of all of Dartmoor’s tors. Easily accessible from the road, the 1,499ft summit is almost always topped by the silhouettes of scramblers who have reached the top of this huge granite outcrop." According to legend Hound Tor is a hunter and his hounds petrified by a coven of witches. Regarded as an evil place, with some refusing to go near it the tor has quite a reputation! Nearby lies Jay's Grave and the ruins of Hound Tor medieval village. Start in Widecombe and hike across rugged Dartmoor to the mysterious tor, enjoy the beautiful countryside and indulge in the myths and legends that surround the area. (Dartmoor)
Fishcombe Cove is ideal if you want to escape the crowds. Situated along the coast from Brixham, this small shingle beach is a quiet, peaceful little cove protected on all sides by tall cliffs. The sheltered cove makes this a safe place for swimming, but you may have a few spectators as small fishing boats often moor up here, and sometimes there’s even the odd seal!
