I love Wayne Thiebaud's interpretation of San Francisco, the color and extreme angles.
1993. Wayne Thiebaud, "Apartment View". "The American Morandi". "The Chardin and the Corot of the West Coast : he reinterprets traditional values in American terms". How come ? In 1958 he saw works of Sorolla y Bastida (bold paint handling) and I Macchioli (colour use). After lots of marginal artistic jobs, he started with food paintings and went on to landscapes.
