Vanessa Arbuthnott Launches The ‘Artists’ Collection’ — Heart Home
Vanessa Arbuthnott’s latest collection, her fifteenth, is called the Artists’ Collection. As Vanessa explains: “This collection is a collaborative family effort; I had a fall, which left me with two broken arms and made it impossible to hold a pencil! I nonetheless worked with my husband Nicholas
"Trash" Stamps
I've been doing a lot of stamp carving lately and as a consequence, I've got lots of leftover rubber scraps. I hate to waste it, so I make "trash" stamps: random little designs on the leftover scraps. The first stamp is what I call a "really useful stamp." It's a simple design -- nothing sexy, just a basic -- that you can play with and use in a number of graphic ways. The second stamp is a repeating stamp. When it's stamped repeatedly it makes a (mostly) seamless design. The third stamp is…

Making Friday: Block Printing mega version — Skinny laMinx
This week, I’m in Jaipur, India, starting my second teaching stint with Ritchie Ace Camps. Last year’s Jaipur experience was amazing (lots of pics here), and I can’t wait to meet everyone who is coming on the 2015 version (although I’m going to miss last year’s group like mad!). I hadn’t used block printing techniques a lot …

More Stamp Making
I made four more stamps yesterday before I cleaned off the work table to do other things. Del asked in the comments of yesterday's stamping post what I use to carve with. Here are my carving tools. They are both the same type of tool, just different brands. The one on the left is Speedball and I've had the set for several years. The one on the right is Blick's brand from DickBlick.com. I just got the Blick set last weekend, it was part of a workshop kit in a mixed media class I took from…
