The huegenot cross was an early symbol of Protestantism in France in the early 17th century, and is one of the only trinitarian crosses today. Not only does it symbolize the Father (circle), the Son (cross) and Holy Spirit (dove), but also the eight rounded points signify the beatitudes, the four "petals" of the Maltese cross in the center represent the four gospels, and the three petals within each larger petal together symbolize the 12 apostles.
