Forest Haven in Maryland opened in 1925 and closed in 1991. Several hundred adults and children lost their lives there during the years. In 1976 a girl named Joy (Ann) Evans lost her life there because she was forced fed lying down and choked to death. Her parents took her case to court resulting in the closure many years later.
