Flocking is when adhesive is applied to the doormat and dark black fibers are adhered and heat cured. NATURAL COIR VS DURACOIR: (see below and pictures for information about the two options)NATURAL COIR is a natural fiber that is made from coconut husks. Each doormat is unique. Since coir is a natural fiber, some fibers can be slightly lighter, darker, or have variances of colors in the mat. To prolong the life of this outdoor rug, use in a protected area away from from the elements. The doormat fibers can darken when wet.DURACOIR is made from a synthetic fiber. This rug does not shed and the color does not fade. These outdoor rugs are great for areas that are unprotected and exposed to the elements. Duracoir mats are water resistant and UV protected. It is also great for areas with low thresholds, the doormat is 1/4 inch thick.Both natural coir and duracoir doormats have a durable vinyl backing.The natural coir doormat can shed during shipping. We recommend opening your doormat package outside. Once you open your package and shake the doormat off, shedding shouldn’t be an issue after that.
