Not really a stone, Amber is fossilized tree resin. It is still considered a semi-precious gem. Coming in a variety of colors including cognac, red, green, yellow, and the extremely rare blue found only in the Dominican Republic. Translucent, Amber containing the remains of bugs is highly prized and can command fabulous prices. When warmed, Amber still releases a 'piney' fragrance. It has been highly prized for both jewelry and decoration since time immemorial.
