Sonia Delaunay and Blaise Cendrars’ collaboration on the printed version of Cendrars’ poem, Prose on the Trans-Siberian and of Little Jehanne of France, 1 9 1 3. The text runs vertically and unfolds to more than six feet. Delaunay’s imagery was done with a stencil but shows the effects of hand-manipulated inks. Éditions des Hommes Nouveaux.

Exploring Colour Theory with Sonia Delaunay
In celebration of Sonia Delaunay getting her first retrospective in the UK, I thought I'd do a blog post on her.
Sonia Delaunay 1885-1979 was a French artist who cofounded the Orphism art movement, noted for its use of strong colours and geometric shapes. Her work extends to painting, textile design and stage set design. She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of the French Legion of Honor.
