How to catch flathead catfish
I have been catching a ton of flathead catfish lately. 37 lb, 35 lb, 27 lb and 25 lb this month alone. If you want to know how to catch flathead catfish, get 12 to 15 live bluegill and/or shad and fish in troughs, slopes or in deeper water where there is a lot of snags and bait fish. When you catch flatheads they tend to mouth the bait more subtly than channel catfish or blue catfish so watch you line and rod tips closely.
Night fishing for catfish using gizzard shad as catfish bait
Night fishing for big catfish using gizzard shad for bait. Between work and fatherhood, night time is the only time I have to fish most weeks. Thankfully, in the summer time night fishing for catfish is awesome. Additionally, live and cut gizzard shad is the best bait on most lakes with gizzard shad. Live shad works for all big catfish, and cut fish is great for blue catfish and channel catfish (though flatheads will hit cut bait too). www.CatsandCarp.com

Tie chicken liver with pantyhose - Keep liver on your hook
If you want to keep chicken liver on your hook, then pantyhose is a cheap way to make a very tough chicken liver rig. You can tie a lot of rigs with a single pair of old pantyhose and once done, your chicken liver rigs will be extremely tough. You won't lose bait when casting or when fish nibble your hook. And if you have a lady in your life, then getting old pantyhose is cheap and easy too.
How to cure chicken liver with borax and salt - tough chicken liver
If your chicken liver keeps falling off the hook, try curing chicken liver with borax and salt. Curing chicken liver makes it extremely tough so you can keep the liver on the hook. Borax and salt also preserves the liver so it won't rot easily. Cured liver can last months in the refrigerator or up to a year in the freezer.
