33K views · 1.2K reactions | Pelvic floor top tip: #kegels are not where it’s at. We’ve been taught for decades that squeezing our vagina like to “stop the stream” is actually what makes it stronger. However that is really not true. ✔️ Our pelvic floor is a system of muscles and tissue that’s influenced by the entire surrounding eco system of other muscles and tissue. ❌So just squeezing one part isn’t going to work. ✔️Hips, glutes, low back all affect the pelvic floor so betting our “strength” on one action isolated inside the pelvis as we do with a kegel is literally missing out on the fact that the very action of the pelvic floor depends on the other areas for strength and function. ✔️ Like cutting your nose to spite your face. Digging a hole that’s just filling with sand. Pointless. Ideal is to target all the areas that co conspire to create a functional system. Team work to a dream work and your pelvic floor is a team player with your #hips, #glutes, #lowback (and upper body) ✔️ A majority of my clients either got worse with kegels or see absolutely no change and feel frustrated, let down and like something is actually wrong with them. 💡This also applies to cueing the pelvic floor when you workout. Or teach a workout. Not needed + it really just trains the body to be less reflective and not more. Remember that your pelvic floor is designed to be reflective and automated.
