Ribe, Denmark, is a town (pop. 8,150) located on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula. Established in the first decade of the 8th century and first attested in a document dated 854 AD; Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark. It was the very 1st town I visited in Denmark in 1982, after taking a bus from the station in Flensburg, Germany across the Danish border. Stepping off the bus was like stepping onto the backlot of a Hollywood studio, and the local IYH was the icing on the cake.
